Newcastleton is 40 minutes from both Hawick to the North and Carlisle to the South.
Roads in the area are generally good with the exception of some of the single track roads. There are some deep potholes in areas so watch out for them especially when it's wet! Don't drive through any puddles as you will not know how deep they might be!!
There is a daily service that runs from Newcastleton to Carlisle, Langholm and Hawick from Monday through to Saturday.

Carlisle is the nearest station with a large convenient car park next to it. Edinburgh is 1 hour 17 minutes with no changes. The stunning Carlisle to Settle route takes about 1 hour 40 minutes and is well worth considering.
The nearest airport is Newcastle which is 62 miles away and takes about 1 hr 30 mins.
Glasgow and Edinburgh airports are both about 2 hrs away by car.
